The Centre Region of Portugal offers a vision of a space that shelters a very heterogeneous group of activities' sectors: a group of industrial districts in the northern part of the region with the textile poles, the glass, moulds, plastics and telecommunications clusters; a certain number of industrial platforms of forest and maritime resources; extensive areas of low density with poles of industrial transformation of the regional natural resource's and services activities.

Some strengths of this region are:

• good industrial dynamic in Aveiro and Figueira da Foz,
• human resources.

Like weaknesses we can find the phenomena of strong regional asymmetries, small dimension of local market, industrial sector with a small value chain, SME low competitiveness and innovation capabilities.
