Crealys
CREALYS is the Science Park of the Province of Namur, specialized in Life Sciences, ICT and Quality Management.
CREALYS® Park is composed of:
- A 110- hectare (247-acre) landscaped unit;
- A reception and services centre, which hosts the permanent staff belonging to the European Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) of BEP;
- Four business incubators and one biotech incubator providing young companies with the opportunity to start up their business in the best conditions;
- A Business Centre, which offers turnkey buildings can be rapidly made available (surfaces up to 2500 m² for rent or sale).
Various services are at the disposal of the companies:
- Availability of meeting rooms and a conference centre, a restaurant, a fitness room,.
THE INFRASTRUCTURE
The exceptional motorway infrastructure is directly connecting the area to the neighbouring countries. CREALYS is in front of a motorway exit next to the main crossroads of highways of Wallonia.
Currently there are 96 companies on CREALYS, employing 1600 persons. CREALYS is constantly expanding.
Many renowned companies are already located on the site which is based on a specific urban planning process with high tech infrastructure. These points are important for the public image of these companies on the site: GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Aseptic Technologies, SGS Belgium, OCE sw Lab., VINÇOTTE and many high tech SME's.
Moreover, a satisfaction survey carried out in 2004/2005 has shown that 91 % of the companies where very satisfied of the management team of the site. An ISO 14001 certification is under way.
CREALYS works in close partnership with :
- The University of GEMBLOUX
- The University Faculty of Gembloux is the oldest Belgian institution of teaching and research devoted entirely to agronomy and biological engineering. Its activities have gained worldwide reputation. These are organized around three topics:
- Agonomic Sciences;
- Environmental Sciences and Technologies;
- Chemistry and Bio-industries.
At the Gembloux University Faculty of Agronomic Sciences, research is mainly concentrated in the following four main areas:
- Applied biochemistry and biology
- Plant production and animal production
- Processing and enhancement of products derived from living organisms
- National and regional management and development
On average over one hundred finalised research agreements and projects are filed annually, to which may be added 25 to 50 proposals for research programmes at a less finalised stage. That means there are currently some 150 research contracts being carried out by the Faculty at any given time.

The University of NAMUR:
- Organised within six faculties (The Law, Medicine, Arts, computer science/ICT, science, and economics, social science and management)
Each of the six faculties also proposes post-graduate or Ph.D. courses in privileged areas closely related to the advanced research work carried out in them.
Two hundred professors and as many assistants provide teaching to four thousand students at the University.
Research involves the most varied fields:
- Information technologies, physics and chemistry of interface materials, economics and international development, financial technology, eco-technology of continental waters, philosophical and sociological analysis of scientific practices, etc. Although it mainly concerns basic research, the aim of the research can also focus on applications especially when it is carried out in partnership with private companies or regional, federal or supranational public institutions.

The Agricultural Research Centre of the Walloon Region in Gembloux (C.R.A-w) is composed of:
- Biotechnology
- Plant production
- Integrated pest management and phytogenetic resources
- Phytopharmacology
- Rural engineering
- Animal Productions and Nutrition
- Quality of Agricultural Productions.
CREALYS is also a partner of the Agrobiopole (www.agrobiopole.be) and the Infopole Cluster ICT (www.infopole.be ).
CREALYS is a founder of the network of Science Parks of Wallonia (www.spow.be) gathering these different sites including incubators facilities.

- In addition to that, as European Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) and member of EEN Network (leader of the Walloon consortium), BEP supports companies during scientific and technological partnerships, provides it with access to many sources of information (databanks), helps it in drawing up its business plan to raise money, in the search for European partners, for internationalisation and technology transfer, for getting sources of financing and public grants (R&D, investments, recruitment, consultancy,.), gives it a piece of advice in the area of business management as well as specific training,.http://www.bepentreprises.be.
- BEP also manages an exhibition centre in the city of Namur.
- BEP is a member of the IASP and of EBN.
