EDUCATION AND RESEARCH IN THE REGION
The Øresund Region focuses heavily on education and research. The Øresund Region is one of the leading university Regions in Europe and the fifth largest in Europe when it comes to the publication of scientific articles.
The Region is home to 12 universities and colleges as well as 15 international schools with a sum of 150,000 students, 14,000 researchers, 6,500 PhD students and 4,000 foreign students. The region has 800 R&D projects with other universities in the world
Fourteen universities and colleges in the Øresund Region have joined forces on a project called "Øresund University" - the largest border Region university collaboration in Europe.
Medicine/biotechnics, IT & telecoms, environmental research, logistics and food are the most outstanding sectors in the Øresund Region. In these areas the region is a leading player in Europe, for example medicine and biotechnics are in third place after London and Paris. The IT industry alone employs over 100,000, which makes the Øresund Region the largest IT cluster in Scandinavia.
Bringing together the best of Sweden and Denmark in research and industry fuels innovation, ensuring that the Øresund Region more than holds its own competing in the global market.
